About Analco Studios

Analco Studios produces multimedia stories that empower and uplift individuals and communities often left out of the mainstream. It is an award-winning documentary production company based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, founded by filmmaker and tour guide Gustavo Martínez Contreras.
Analco produced the award-winning documentary series ¿Dónde Anda Lupita? with México City's public broadcast, Capital 21, about Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of the most important religious and cultural icons in Latin America and the Latinx world. The documentary series grew from the popular Where's Lupita Instagram account, which Gustavo created and shares with more than 7,000 followers.
Gustavo has dedicated his career to storytelling. He has extensive experience covering immigration, Latino issues, professional sports and natural disasters all across the United States and Mexico. His work has appeared in magazines, newspapers and online organizations. As a bilingual multimedia journalist, he built a reputation as a thorough reporter with a knack for finding interesting characters and unique stories, which is an approach that underlies Analco Studios' storytelling.
Analco is named after the oldest barrio in the U.S., Barrio de Analco, a neighborhood of Santa Fe, Nueva México. In 1609, indigenous from today’s central Mexico settled on the south bank of the Santa Fe river at the founding of the Spanish settlement. In their Náhuatl language, they called their barrio Analco, which means “across the water” or “on the other side of the water.” Barrio de Analco presents a complex history and thusly reflects themes that we seek to explore in our work: understanding Mexican influence within the United States and the imperialist legacies and indigenous resistance on both sides of the border.
¡Analco, nuestro barrio querido!
